The second-generation Audi R8 may bear many passing similarities to its predecessor, but what hides beneath the aluminium bodywork reveals a total overhaul. Apart from the new chassis comes a revised 5.2-litre V10, which in the R8’s most powerful Plus variant, develops 610bhp, making it Audi’s most powerful road car ever. It’s a fitting successor to the brilliant original, and yes, if you check the appropriate box on the options sheet, it also can be very orange.
